Time flies...

Even when you're doing nothing.I can't believe it's been over two months. Nothing new has really happened, but I'll give you a few highlights.

I never posted about my birthday. It was fun, Michael and Candace came down and we did karaoke at the bar across the street. I have a video of them singing to me. :)

I also got a couple of pictures of us at the bar.

Ummm... A couple of days later I went to Greenwood Cemetery just to look around. It's beautiful out there and I wanted to get some video of it, but my recorded kept shutting off. I was worried it was broken because it said it had plenty of battery left and I kept taking it around everywhere.

The Cemetery was HUGE and I got lost trying to find my out of it past the huge tombstones and mausoleums. I started to get low on the way out, but finally staggered onto the street and promptly found a Dunkin Donuts. I didn't even know those still existed. Their coffee is preferred four to one here over Starbucks. So here's my three second clip of saying the name of the place before I get cut off.

So, turns out it WAS just the battery. So yay about my recorder not being busted. I've been getting interviews and such. I couldn't sleep one night so I went to the laundromat at an unreasonable hour. This video incorporates all three of those thoughts. Oh, and I look so red because of the red neon sign above me. Just wanted to clarify.

I've been going out all the time looking for a job and one of the last places I looked way Coney Island, which is just a few stops down from me. I went down and applied at a couple places, and then I went over to the beach.

My next plan is to get an agent somehow. I've bought a list of something like 95 agents in New York and I'm going to send them all a packet with my resume, head shot, and little personalized cover letter. Here's hoping something comes of it.

Alright....

So I know it's been awhile since I posted last. It's simply because I'm a lazy bum.

So, I'm 25 now!!! My birthday was fun. Candace and Candyce and Micheal and I hung out at my place and then went next door to the karaoke bar. We sang and laughed and a good time was had by all.

What else has happened... I'm still looking for a job. I spent the day yesterday in the freezing wind and snow going door to door in Times Square looking for a job. I filled out a couple applications, but a lot of places said they were OVER staffed and thus not hiring. Whatever...

I'd put up another video, but I think my little camera is broken. I need to see if I can fix it. I tried to make some video of my trip to Greenwood Cemetery and it just wouldn't work. (By the way, the cemetery was very cool. Huge tombstones and mausoleums set against a backdrop of hills and trees.)

Soooooooo.... yeah. I guess that's that. I did take some pictures that I'll try to get on here soon.

My Trip to Central Park!

I went to Central Park today to find the Statue of Bethesda! It was full of magic and wonder and a hell of a lot of walking.



I got off on 86th Street and went into the Engineers Gate smack in the middle of the Reservoir. You'll hear me miss-call it the lake. You will also hear, both here and in later videos, my stupidly heavy breathing because I'm a fatty. I snort like a pug... Don't judge me...

Now, I thought I was at the middle of the park, and I knew Bethesda was in the southern part, so I went south. Of course, I realized I should have gotten a map before I went on this adventure...

Then I saw an obelisk!

Wandering my way south, I chatted with a couple people. While I was on the phone with Danielle, I made a video of a tower I was describing to her.

Winding my way to the top of the tower, I discovered not only that the tower was called Bellevedere Castle, but also a map to the park.

Thus armed, I wound my way south into a part of the park known as The Ramble. Trails crissed and crossed labyrinthine in a small forest of elm and oak. Using the map, I knew I was near the stature if I could only find the Bow Bridge and cross the water.

I got lost in the Ramble, crossing the Oak Bridge and finding myself having to wind my way around the lake. At last, after what seemed like miles of walking, I found it!

I sat down and relaxed for a bit. I had already done a lot of walking, but now I had to find my way out. I decided to keep heading south and see if I could get to the station I knew on the Avenue of Americas.

I left Bethesda behind me and headed out towards the Mall. A huge avenue with statues and giant elms on either side.

One of the statues that caught my eye was one of two giant bald eagles ripping apart a goat. No explanation, just goat ripping violence. The German guys behind me wanted a picture of it too.

Tired and with the sun starting to set, I made my way past the Dairy and the Ice Rink and finally onto the subway. Luckily I found it with no problem. I'm glad I got out. I had a lot of fun and it picked up my spirits a lot. I really like it there. I think I'm going to go back quite a bit. It was really nice to get out from under a bunch of buildings, even after only two weeks. I like to be around trees. ...probably the reason I liked Washington so much.

So there you have it. My adventure in Central Park. And not a mugging or a rape anywhere in the telling. YAY!

*Sigh*

So, not much has happened, hence the lack of updates here. I went to a piano bar the other day with Michael (My only friend that has bothered to call me back,) and Candace H, (My new friend, not to be confused by my roommate Candace K.) It was pretty fun, sang some songs, messed up some lyrics, you usual. The bartenders were great, very complimentary and said I should come back. That makes me feel nice. :)

Still no job yet. I'm filling out more applications tomorrow. I hate job hunting, and it's even worse when there's the highest unemployment rate in the country. Soooooo, yeah. There's that.

Feeling kind of lonely, but not too bad. I have skype and msn messenger if anyone wants to chat. It's nice to see familiar faces while I talk to them.

Other than that, nothing going on. Yay life in the big city!

It's snowing pretty good here and has been all day. I went to the Museum of Natural History today and it was weird to see a bunch of people in a museum all crowded around the windows to look outside. Eh, at least I got to read what I wanted to without craning my neck. Hmmm... I'm hungry. I'm gonna make dinner. I'll put another video up later.

It has it's ups and downs

I'm still waiting for my computer to show up. For some reason I feel like I'll finally be here for real when it arrives. It's really hard to get a job when your resume and cover letter are both stuck on your hard drive somewhere in Ohio.

My room is coming together. I rented a U-haul, (NEVER AGAIN! It was SO expensive!) and picked up a bed, dresser, and nightstand from some guy in Crown Heights. He was really cool. I hung up some of my posters, and then I got some sheets and curtains from JC Penny, so all in all it's coming along. 

Not much else is going on. I get depressed every now and then. Some of it is a bit of homesickness, but most of it is being literally sick and worrying about my finances. Thank God my parents are supportive. Still waiting to get my videos on here. It should be slightly more entertaining that having to read this drivel. Then you can LISTEN to this drivel. :D 

I haven't done much sight seeing, but tomorrow I plan to visit the Natural History Museum. Yay! Should be fun. I'm also going to stop by the Swarovski's in Rockafeller Center and introduce myself. Can't hurt, right?

Well... I'm here

This first post is on a borrowed computer. My roommate Candace is letting me use her laptop until mine arrives in the mail. 

A lots happened. The plane ride was great, aside from the fact that when we reached 36,000 feet I thought my ear was going to explode. I was so stuffed up that I thought my ears were going to explode. It really hurt, and when we landed I was 90% deaf. The driver got lost in Brooklyn and I had to literally take his GPS and guide him in.

The apartment is amazing. My room is huge and beautiful, and the house is so cute. I'm very close to everything. I've made some videos and I'm going to try and get those up soon. 

My first day, after I got here and slept until 1PM or so, Candace showed me around the neighborhood. Then we went grocery shopping and took the Staten Island ferry so I could see the Statue of Liberty, which I had never seen before. We tried to go to Chinatown, but it was completely deserted. Instead, we went into Times Square and ate at Buba Gumps Shrimp Co. It was amazing. 

I'm feeling a little upset about the state of my room recently. I have no furniture at all, and I certainly don't have any money. I spent all day looking for some stuff for my room, but it was either complete crap of way too pricey. And I need a bed. A lot. The air mattress is wonderful and I love Candace for lending it to me, but it's freezing. I'm gonna go to the 99 cent stores and see if they have anything worth taking home. I'm also gonna try and put up my dragon and some posters. 

Hope I can get those videos up... They're pretty sweet.
